デザイン画が決まると、いよいよ職人による造型へと進みます。
私は社内工房の職人にデザイン画を渡しながら「ちょっとした説明」をします。
「このコレクションの新作として考えていて・・・」「ここの部分の前後関係はこうなっていて・・・」「使用するダイヤモンドの大きさはこのくらいにしたい・・・」
このようなことをメモ書きとともに口頭でも説明します。
ただ「華奢に」「柔らかい感じで」などと抽象的なものであったり、
場合によっては「品行方正な」「品格が高いものに」など、捉えどころがない表現で頭の中のイメージを伝えます。
一方、職人はこの世に初めて生まれた2次元のデザイン画と、この「ちょっとした（ときには捉えどころのない）説明」を受け止め3次元のジュエリーへと昇華させていくのです。
まさに「神業」です。
ジュエリーとしての完成後は、職人はデザイナーとは違い、口頭で製作意図を説明することはできません。本当に出来上がった作品のみでしか語れないのです。
そこに私は彼らのクラフトマンシップを感じます。
日々こんな「神業」を涼しい顔でこなしている大倉堂工房の職人にはただ感謝です。
ちなみにこのブローチ兼ペンダントの製作のときの私の「ちょっとした説明」は
「ゆったりとした結びでお願いします。」でした。

From design drawing to jewelry
Once the design drawing is decided, the craftsmen finally proceed to molding.
I give a ” slight explanation” while handing the design drawing to the craftsmen in the in-house workshop.
I explain verbally as well as in writing, for example, “I am thinking of making a new piece for this collection,” “The front and back of this part is like this,” or “I want to use diamonds of this size,” etc.
Sometimes, I simply convey the image in my mind with elusive expressions such as “slender” or “soft,” or in some cases, “elegant” or “dignified. “
The craftsmen, on the other hand, take this “slight (and sometimes elusive) explanation” and the two-dimensional design drawing that was created for the first time in this world and sublimates it into three-dimensional jewelry.
It is truly “divine work. “
After the jewelry is completed, unlike the designers themselves, they are no longer able to verbally explain their intentions. They can only let the work speak for itself. This is where I feel their craftsmanship.
I am just grateful to the craftsmen at OKURADO workshop who perform such “divine work” every day with a cool face.
When I asked them to make this brooch and pendant, the only my explanation was, “Please tie it with a loose knot. “
