先月、夏の京都に行ってきました。
観光客もだいぶ戻ってきた様子で、海外からの観光客の方々も多く見かけました。
日本人の私から見ても、つくづく京都は世界に誇れる美しい街だと思います。
丸一日自由な時間があったので、静かなお寺をいくつか選んで訪ねました。
夏の光を浴びたまばゆい緑と静寂の中にある庭園や襖絵、その他美しい装飾の中に身を置きリラックスした時を過ごしました。
寺院のなかで見かけるいわゆる「円窓」は、私が特に惹きつけられる装飾の１つです。
まるで外の風景が窓枠で切り取られた絵画のように感じます。
これらの「円窓」は大倉堂「万葉」コレクションのデザインソースの１つになっています。
時間を忘れしばらく畳の上に座り外の景色をながめていると、
昔の人はこの窓からどのような想いで景色を眺めたのだろうか、障子からの採光をどのように楽しんでいたのだろうか、と思ってしまいます。
何百年もの歴史の出来事をずっと見てきたこの意匠たちに囲まれいつまでも座っていたくなります。
寺院の庭園や窓などはデザインの美しさもさることながら、経てきた年月のことを考えるとその年月の時（3次元の）の厚み、重みが感じられてきてより一層魅力的に思えてきます。
一瞬のインパクトが強いものも良いですが、私はやっぱり「何十年、何百年と残りそれでいて美しさを失わないもの」の方についつい惹かれてしまう、と確信する瞬間でした。

Last month, I visited Kyoto in the summer.
The number of tourists seemed to have returned to Kyoto, and I saw many tourists from overseas.
As a Japanese, I can say that Kyoto is a beautiful city that I am proud to show to the world.
Since I had a whole day free, I chose to visit a few quiet temples.
I spent a relaxing time among the gardens, fusuma-e (sliding door paintings), and other beautiful decorations in the dazzling greenery and serenity of the summer light.
The so-called “round windows” found in temples are one of the decorations that particularly attract me.
It is as if the scenery outside is a painting cut out of the window frame.
These “round windows” are one of the design sources for the OKURADO “Leaves” Collection.
When you sit on the tatami mats for a while and gaze at the scenery outside, you will forget about the time,
I wonder how people in the past viewed the scenery from these windows, and how they enjoyed the light coming in through the shoji screens.
It is tempting to sit forever surrounded by these designs that have seen hundreds of years of historical events.
The gardens and windows of temples are not only beautiful in design, but when I think of the years that have passed, I can feel the thickness and weight of time (in three dimensions), which makes them even more appealing.
I am convinced that while things that have a strong impact for a moment are good, I am more attracted to things that will last for tens or hundreds of years and still retain their beauty.
