5月の半ばに続けて2つの展示会を見に行ってきました。
一つはソウルのサムソン美術館（Leeum）で開催された「朝鮮の白磁展」(Joseon White Porcelain) 。
もう一つはその2日後に行った東京の寺田倉庫G1の「ウェスアンダーソンすぎる風景展」（Accidentally Wes Anderson）。

李氏朝鮮時代に作られた白磁は18世紀のものが今年3月のクリスティーズオークションで456万ドル（！）で落札されるなど近年特に注目が高まっており、独自の「白い」世界を表現。
一方、ウェスアンダーソンはグランドブダペストホテルなどで有名な映画監督。その独特な色彩、世界観にはファンが非常に多く、影響を受けたInstagramのコミュニティができているほど。
この２つの展示会は出展数も多く､それぞれの世界観にとっぷりとひたれ、まるで別世界にいる感覚になれました。
この２つの世界観はある意味対照的。
李氏朝鮮時代に作られた白磁は微妙な違いがあるにせよ、ひたすら白の世界。尚且つ形は朝鮮白磁特有の心地よい「歪み」があります。
一方、ウェスアンダーソンすぎる風景展は、独特の色彩で、構図は基本的には気持ちがいいほどシンメトリー。
ジュエリーのデザインも、ダイヤモンドだけのシンメトリーのデザインもあれば、色石をふんだんに使ったアシンメトリーのデザインもあり、いろいろです。
シンメトリーは整然として気持ちがいいけれど、つまらなくなるリスクが高い。
一方アシンメトリーはデザインに動きは出ますが、品よくまとめるのが難しいです。
大倉堂のジュエリーデザインは、基本的にシンメトリーのものが多いですが、ただその中にもほんのちょっとした変化（デザイン的や、製作上の変化）を入れる、ということにかなり気を遣ってデザインをしています。
皆さんは､シンメトリー派、アシンメトリー派、カラフル派、単色派、どんなデザインがお好みでしょうか？

Symmetry, Asymmetry, Colorful, Monotone
In mid-May, I went to two exhibitions in succession.
One was “Joseon White Porcelain” at the Samsung Museum of Art (Leeum) in Seoul.
The other was “Accidentally Wes Anderson Too Landscape” at the Terada Warehouse G1 in Tokyo, which I visited two days later.
White porcelain made in the Yi Dynasty in the 18th century sold for $4.56 million (!) at Christie’s auction in March this year. The white porcelain from the Yi Dynasty has been attracting particular attention in recent years.
Wes Anderson, on the other hand, is a film director famous for his work on the Grand Budapest Hotel. His unique color palette and worldview have so many fans that he has created an Instagram community influenced by his work.
The number of exhibitors at these two exhibitions was so large that I felt like I was in a different world, immersed in each worldview.
In a sense, these two worldviews are in stark contrast.
White porcelain made in the Joseon Yi Dynasty is a world of white, even if there are subtle differences. The shapes have a pleasant “distortion” characteristic of Joseon white porcelain.
On the other hand, Wes Anderson’s too much landscape exhibition has unique colors, and the composition is basically pleasingly symmetrical.
Jewelry designs also vary, with some symmetrical designs using only diamonds and others asymmetrical designs using lots of colored stones.
Symmetry is orderly and pleasing, but it has a high risk of becoming boring.
Asymmetry, on the other hand, gives the design more movement, but it is difficult to put together in a classy way.
Most of OKURADO’s jewelry designs are basically symmetrical, but we are very careful to include small changes (in design or production) in our designs.
